A few members of our technical team had the pleasure of attending Mach 2022 Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham, West Midlands. It is a great event for precision engineering companies looking to stay up to date with the lastest technology. The premier event is held every 2 years enabling both machine tool and tooling suppliers to showcase their latest products. With current energy price increases, M&M were interested in seeing how machines had advanced in terms of energy efficiency. Over the last couple of years we have been under continued pressure from customers to demonstrate how we are reducing our carbon footprint.

Advances in Tooling

As a subcontract machining shop it is always important to explore new manufacturing methods. There are always plenty of tooling manufacturers and suppliers on hand at the Mach Exhibition. Tool life was an area M&M were looking to improve moving forward. It was great to see the latest products on display from the likes of Horn and Ceratizit. Tooling is constantly improving and evolving to make life easier for engineer’s. Small gains on tool life can have a huge impact on efficiency and profitability!

Highlights from Mach Exhibition 2022

The new Miyano ANX 42 machine released by Citizen Machinery was a particular highlight of the show. The machine features LFV (Low Frequency Vibration) technology. We had been looking at ways to improve efficiency in our fixed head machining capacity. The ANX looks a great machine with twin-turret/twin-spindle setup with Fanuc control. M&M were really impressed with the speed of the machine in terms of chip to chip times. Another plus was the capability of running on soluble cutting fluid which is important when machining larger diameter parts. All in all this looks a very impressive machine tool.
