We have been working hard of late with the support of Prospec Systems Ltd to implement a new production control system. The new system will allow us to slash lead-times on new orders and give us a clearer business overview. PSL Datatrack is specifically designed for production engineering companies. We had heard good things about Datatrack and it’s features, after being given a demonstration it was a no-brainer. The software is logical and easy to navigate from module to module. There have been a few niggles whilst transitioning from our excel based system to a totally new platform. This has been made easier by the great support we have received from the staff at PSL. The only regret we have is that we never discovered the software sooner.
Production Control
M&M now have greater control of all aspects of the business due to implementing this software. Order status can be tracked within seconds along with purchase and subcontract orders. The great thing about Datatrack is that it links and updates information across the board when changes are made. The software integrates well with all requirements of ISO 9001 which was a key driver for us. Having a system that covers all areas from quotation to dispatch has been brilliant and took us forward. No doubt we will see further gains as we build up our knowledge of the system over the next 12 months.
Traceability
This is massively important for us as a UKAS ISO approved machining company. Having a system that allows us to monitor supplier’s along with our own delivery performance is great. Within Datatrak you can print multiple reports to aid traceability at the click of a button. Documents such as material C of C’s can be scanned in for records and delivery note C of C’s can be generated quickly.
